Success Training Bible Study - Genesis Chapter 7a
an exposition of faith
a success training Bible study
One of the greatest definitions of Faith is in the letter to the Hebrews, chapter 11, verse 1. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Believing without proof, without seeing.
One of the greatest examples of Faith is the confidence of Noah in God’s Word. To change everything in your life and move in a particular direction, putting everything else aside and obeying God’s Word is an amazing example of Faith. Noah demonstrated this type of total faith when he obeyed God and stepped into the Ark that he had built. In our success training Bible study, Genesis Chapter 7 is the Old Testament ‘Faith’ chapter. It tells of faith as a response to revelation. The Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 10:10 that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. What truer example exists than the example of Noah’s faith? Faith as a relationship of trust was demonstrated after Noah obeyed God and stepped into the ark. “The Lord shut him in” (verse 16). There is no account of God speaking to Noah for the entire 1 year journey. This is definitive proof of the ‘Faith’ relationship. Noah demonstrated his faith as a willingness to work. In James 2:17 we learn that faith without works is dead. With the responsibility that Noah took on, gathering, feeding, taking care of the animals, he truly demonstrated a readiness to obey without question. Noah’s willingness to obey his Lord precipitated a release of blessings. His expression of his faith demonstrated by his willingness to preach righteousness to his contemporaries secured not only his blessing but that of his family. They were exposed to the truth even though they chose to ignore it. We also benefit by Noah’s willingness to obey. His blessing is extended to us as we read the account of his story and accept God as he accepted him. Imagine living in a society, living by your faith, telling others the truth of God’s revelation to you, showing others the depth of your faith by the actions that you take. Imagine the laughs, the snickering, the ostracizing attitude of your contemporaries and often the blatant derision you would experience. This was the life of Noah as he spent 120 years building a huge ‘box’ or ‘coffin’ with no water in site. The faith that Noah had in his heart was a source of power that helped Noah and his family to win, to win real BIG Time. The principles that you are learning in this success training Bible study will put you in touch with the same powerful source - Jesus Christ.
