Success Training Bible Study - Intro to Genesis Chapter 2

success training Bible study of Genesis.

In chapter 2 (verses 1-25) we see the account of God’s Masterpiece. This chapter give us the definitive answers to the question “Who am I?”

We see in verses 1-7 that man is (1) a natural being. He, as are all animals, physically created from the elements of this world (of the dust). In His infinite abilities, God took elements of this physical world and created the shell, outer covering, physical characteristics of man.

He made us physical beings in order that our spiritual beings could enjoy the physical aspects of the world that He created for us.

He then place that spiritual part of us, His breath, into the physical shell. He imparted the (2) spiritual being into the physical man that He created. It is good too note at this point that the Hebrew work for breath is Rouach. This is also translated spirit. God’s breath and spirit are the same.

In verse 15 we see that another part of who we are is the (3) practical being. “The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”

When our (4) moral being is introduce in verses 16 &17, we are introduced as well to another dilemma - our call to considering our moral obligation to obey without question what God tells us to do.

The implications of verse 18 makes us aware that we were created to be (6) social beings. “It is not good that the man should be alone.”

In verse 19 we see that God gave man the opportunity to develop his(7) rational being by exercise his intellect in naming every creature.

I was confronted one day by a young fellow who was troubled. He told me that he was trying to find himself, to find his meaning. Instead of giving him the obvious and trite answer, “You’re right here with me”, I directed him to read the early chapters of Genesis. These are truly beautiful words written to help us understand that our true nature and the essence of our meaning is defined in our relationship to God. What a wonderful definition God’s word gives us to every question that we would ever ponder. This is only one reason for a success training Bible study.
